I thoroughly enjoy creating highly detailed images. My compositions are direct and simple, incorporating only 2 or 3 elements. Additionally, I arrange the objects in a shallow setting, further emphasizing the simplicity of the image. This has led me to see the canvas as a vase for the flowers.
Like the female figures I paint, the flowers are sensual and strong but also vulnerable. However, I have found that nothing, not even the twine can keep the flowers from emerging out of the paper. Furthermore, my lighting illuminates this escape by providing the energy for the flowers’ growth and illustrates the extreme darkness from which they have grown.
